Tokenized equities with Backpack Securities

Sunrise has partnered with Backpack Securities to launch tokenized equities on Solana. Backpack Securities lets investors buy, hold, and sell stocks through regulated brokerage infrastructure — and convert those holdings into tokenized securities that move freely onchain.

How it works

Backpack Securities is a regulated securities platform built on traditional brokerage infrastructure. Sunrise provides the onchain side: tokenized securities launch on Solana through Sunrise with native liquidity from day one, the same way Sunrise launches every asset.

• Real equity ownership. Investors hold real security entitlements through established US securities infrastructure, with dividend eligibility, corporate action participation, and brokerage transfers via ACATS and DTCC rails.
• 1:1 backing. Each tokenized stock corresponds to a real share held in custody. Investors can convert between traditional security entitlements and tokenized securities in both directions.
• Onchain utility. Tokenized securities are fully transferable across supported networks, compatible with wallets and DeFi ecosystems, and available 24/7 — without selling the underlying asset.
• Day-one markets. Through Sunrise, tokenized stocks arrive on Solana with live, tradable markets across the ecosystem from the moment they list.

Convert between tokens and real shares

Two-way conversion is what separates this product from other tokenized offerings. Most tokenized stocks stop at tracking a price: what you hold is usually a contractual claim, often with unclear redemption paths. Every tokenized security issued by Backpack is redeemable 1:1 for the real underlying share. The conversion runs in both directions, working like a stablecoin moving between a wallet and an exchange:

• Withdraw (real shares → Solana tokens). Traditional securities held on Backpack are tokenized and withdrawn to your Solana wallet.
• Deposit (Solana tokens → real shares). Tokenized securities deposited from your Solana wallet convert back into traditional securities holdings on Backpack.

Broker transfers

One of the differentiators of Backpack Securities is the ability to move your stocks both inbound and outbound to another broker, settled over DTC rails. Transfers are performed on Backpack Exchange. Review Backpack’s documentation for the full details of the flow.

Why it matters

Traditional equities trade within market hours, settle through intermediaries, and stay locked inside brokerage accounts. Tokenization extends the same regulated ownership onto open networks: global access, around-the-clock transferability, and composability with onchain finance. Sunrise’s role is to make sure those markets are liquid and integrated.

Availability

Backpack Securities began its phased rollout in June 2026, with the initial tokenized securities launching on Solana through Sunrise.
